To serve as the kickoff of the Louisville Sustainability Council’s Sustainability Summit, Sustain Louisville and the Louisville Sustainability Council are sponsoring the film premiere of Beargrass: The Creek In Your Backyard at The Clifton Center. The film, by filmmaker Morgan Atkinson, focuses on Louisville’s Beargrass Creek and the impact that everyone living within its 61 square mile watershed has on the waterway.
Doors will open at 6:00pm for a public reception featuring food from Butchertown Grocery and drink from Apocalypse Brew Works, with the film premiere at 7:30pm. This is an open community event to support the restoration efforts on Beargrass Creek. There is a suggested donation of $5.00 at the door, and proceeds will benefit Kentucky Waterways Alliance, Beargrass Creek Alliance, and Salt River Watershed Watch, three groups working to restore the Beargrass.
The evening will include tabling by a host of organizations that are doing important work in the watershed, including Beargrass Creek Alliance/Kentucky Waterways Alliance, Botanica: Waterfront Gardens, Salt River Watershed Watch, Louisville Nature Center, Beargrass Creek Nature Preserve, Jefferson County Soil and Water Conservation District, Louisville Audubon Society, Greater Louisville Sierra Club, Louisville Metro Parks, Louisville Olmsted Parks Conservancy, Louisville MSD, Sustain Louisville, Louisville Sustainability Council, Louisville Community Boathouse, Center For Neighborhoods Green Institute, Jefferson County Public Schools, Kentucky Association for Environmental Education , Brightside and the Kentucky Department for Environmental Protection Division of Water.
